Lifestyle photography is a genre of portrait photography that is becoming more and more popular, but what does it mean? We'll go over it here!
Lifestyle Photography (a.k.a: storytelling)
Lifestyle photography is when the focus of the session is to capture you as your candid self. It's unscripted, without the strict poses. However there is still some direction to lifestyle photography, your photographer might suggest you to move around or ask questions and give prompts to create genuine laughter. Lifestyle photography is meant to capture the real laughter and playful moments — which is why so many family photographers (including myself) favor this form of photography.
It's meant to tell the "story" of the session, of your family, of you and your partner: it's mean to capture the beauty of your life. To capture the real and raw moments.
"Lifestyle photography is a genre of photography that mainly aims to capture portraits of people in situations, real-life events or milestones in an artistic manner and the art of the everyday. The primary goal is to tell stories about people's lives or to inspire people in different times." -Wikipedia
